Christmas present illustrations for little girl

This project was dedicated to serve as a Christmas gift to nice Canadian girl Mirabella. Her parents wanted to present her a set of illustrations with herself, and my scope was to find the best way to make the girl happy with it. I was in charge of everything - from initial concept to drawing.

How the illustrations were created

One day in early December of 2016 the family from Canada asked me to help with the Christmas present for their daughter Mirabella. They wanted to surprise her with a very unusual gift (al least what she for sure didn't expect) - the set of illustrations with herself.

That was the only scope given to me (except for some photos of Mirabella, certainly, to give me an impression of the girl). Her parents wanted something nice, suitable for a teenager, and something that will make her as happy as possible - but were not sure, what specific details should be on every illustration, and what all the set should be about. So, the general narrative was up to me.

What I decided to do, is to learn as much as possible about the girl - of her habits, favourite activities, books and heroes, of everything that is valuable to her. It's easy, a couple of hours in chat with Mirabella's mother, and I have the exact "portrait" of her in full detail - I know what questions to ask, and her mother is a good in giving the information.

The next stage was the concept of illustration set - the best solution is to draw Mirabella's life, so that every picture is full of small details, so she can be happy more than once: first when she sees the drawing in general ("wow, that's me!"), and then when she realizes, that all even the tiniest parts of the picture are the dearest attributes of her life.

And here come her devotion for reading books from iPad, love to apples, spaghetti and peaches, favourite Hogwarts faculty, hockey team, bicycling and, of course, family. And a lot of other things, that had their place on the illustrations.

Concluding the story - Mirabella was super-happy, so the goal was achieved.
